A Forest of Greens is the blog of Ragmans Lane Market Garden, a small organic veg-growing business in Gloucestershire's Forest of Dean (see ragmans.co.uk/market_garden for our more official web page). The business is run by Jon, who originally set up the market garden with 3 friends in February 2014, along with more recent arrivals Charlie and Kirstin.
We are lucky enough to be renting 2 small fields, 3 polytunnels and an adjacent cottage from Ragmans Farm (ragmans.co.uk), a legendary permacultural farm and education venue nestled by the majestic River Wye. With help from fertile soil, ecological growing techniques and enthusiastic customers, we are growing and selling a wide range of flavoursome veg, delicious salads and fresh herbs.
We believe that a local and ecological food system can nourish people in both body and soul and make communities more resilient in the face of a changing economy and climate. We are proud to be working the land, in the belief that we can help make more nutritious, sustainable, locally-grown food available in this corner of England.
We sell our produce, all of which is certified organic, directly to local residents through the innovative Dean Forest Food Hub website. We all sell to local shops and restaurants, including:
- Handley Organics, Ledbury
- Field Fayre, Ross-on-Wye
- Village Shop and Post Office, Ruardean (01594 544642)
- Infamous Catering
- Hill House Guest House, Howle Hill, Ross-on-Wye
and more.
If your business is looking to source high-quality produce that is delivered the day it is picked, please contact us using the details provided on the Contact page. We can also offer produce to courses being held at Ragmans Farm.
